3.5 Marking for identification. The manufacturer’s
name, trade name of such known character easily identifiable with said
manufacturer shall be applied. The marking shall be indented or embossed on the
back of the shank of forks and spoons and on the handle or blade of knives
adjacent to the blade or handle in accordance with the manufacturer’s standard
practice. The surface opposite the markings shall show no signs of penetration.
3.6 Workmanship. The finished flatware shall be clean and smooth and
shall not contain any burrs, rough die, tool, gouge, or grind marks or burn
marks. The finished items shall not be fractured dented, bent, punctured, or
malformed. There shall be no defects which may impair serviceability,
durability or appearance.
3.7 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use
recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent
practicable.
3.8 Measurement system. The values stated in inch-pound units are to be
regarded as the standard. The values stated in parentheses are for
informational purpose only.
3.9 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be
considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch/pound units,
provided they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables
contained in the latest revision of FED-STD-376, and all other requirements of
this commercial item description are met.
3.10 Commercial item. The use of the term “commercial item description”
in this document does not imply that any item or items offered are not required
to conform with all requirements specified herein.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain objective
quality evidence, that the product offered meets this commercial item
description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings,
specification, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government
reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first
deliver and thereafter as ma be otherwise provided for under the provisions of
the contract.
